As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ontario Medical Association, funded by the Province of Ontario, OntarioMD (OMD) supports community-based clinician practices in the selection, implementation and adoption of electronic medical records (EMRs) and other digital health and virtual care tools. Over 20,000 physicians and more than 1,500 nurse practitioners are enrolled in its programs.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a strategic role with an organization that has a unique platform to participate in system transformation through the development and implementation of digital solutions that create value to physicians and impact the health system in Ontario. The opportunities for OntarioMD are endless - from additional value-creation opportunities for Ontario’s physicians, such as practice management, to additional system capabilities in the area of digital transfer and privacy, as well as opportunities to expand OntarioMD’s service offerings to other provinces.
In line with current board vacancies and the skills matrix of its competency-based Board, OntarioMD seeks to recruit two highly experienced Board Directors, with a proven track record of growing companies in both for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, and who will contribute to strategic discussions of the Board and the collective achievement of the Board. They will have had careers as senior executives within highly complex, growth-oriented companies. Experience serving on subsidiary Boards would be a definite asset.
With specific focus on functional skill, the new Directors should possess one of the following:
- Business acumen, growth experience in technology or digital organizations;
- Financial or accounting (designation required) and experience serving on or Chairing audit, finance and risk committees.
Most importantly, these new Directors will bring their significant governance experience and their passion to make a difference in Ontario’s health system.
