Chief Nursing Executive
Reporting to the SVP, ParaMed, the Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) will establish ParaMed clinical standards and practices that empower nurses and PSWs to provide compassionate, high quality, effective nursing care. Working in partnership with the VP of Operations, Regional Directors and the Chief Medical Officer, the CNE will oversee the development and implementation of plans to ensure patient-centered, high-quality care, practice, and education.
Leading the Quality & Risk team and the training and development resources for ParaMed, the CNE will enhance the reputation of ParaMed as an organization committed to high standards and excellence in care and build collaborative relationships with health system partners.
The CNE will be a key member of the ParaMed Leadership Team helping to lead the transformation of the clinical practice and implementing a vision for the future of Home & Community Care in Canada.
Accountabilities
- Lead the improvement and implementation of systems, processes and clinical practices to enable superior service, clinical excellence and a consistent, reliable patient experience
- Develop and implement key improvement plans to continually increase quality of care
- Collaborate with Extendicare’s Chief Medical Officer in the development, implementation and evaluation of a shared quality agenda and quality improvement initiatives
- Build a community of practice with the Care and Services Managers and Clinical Supervisors to identify and action opportunities to improve and advance clinical excellence
- Manage clinical training and development programs to ensure clinical standards are met across ParaMed
- Build and oversee patient and family engagement strategy to ensure clients’ voice and advocacy is imbedded across programs and practices
- Build and maintain professional partnerships with internal and external business partners, support teams, funding agencies and other stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with ParaMed policies, government policies and regulatory standards
- Mitigate and support risk management, assessment, and audit processes
- Offer consistent and meaningful leadership to the Quality and Risk Team, with clear performance expectations and targets, establishing and ensuring accountability, and providing regular coaching and feedback
- Focus, motivate and inspire the clinical workforce to create and maintain a great consistent patient experience
- Liaise with provincial professional colleges and nursing education programs to increase pipeline of clinical professionals and increase quality of hiring
- Co-create innovative care delivery and funding models in home health care
- Keep abreast of industry developments by monitoring trends and bringing forward critical initiatives
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Science (MScN) or Healthcare Administration (MHA)
- Minimum 10 years progressive experience in the healthcare sector, including experience in community-based nursing
- Minimum 5 years leadership experience with 2 years leading leaders
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Expert knowledge of health care quality and risk management practices with a demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement
- Proven experience successfully leading clinical transformation including ability to articulate a strategy and translate into actions and lead a team to execute and achieve the goals
- Compelling and results-oriented leader who can enable high performance from individuals at all levels
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and recognize and respond to changing industry trends and priorities
- Collaborative style with ability to work with all levels of an organization and across divisions
