Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is a world class innovator in medical care, research and teaching, delivering service to more than one million BC residents.  VCH embraces thinking boldly, taking smart risks, and "going first" when they believe it will lead to the best possible outcomes for patients and their families.   As an organization, Vancouver Coastal Health lives its values of “caring for everyone, always learning and always striving for better results”.  It is people focused organization,  where entrepreneurial spirit runs deep, and opportunity exists for all those who see themselves in the transformation of health care.

Mandate

Because of significant capital development projects occurring and planned in the region, Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Executive Director / Chief Project Officer to join the Vancouver Community of Care team, leading Capital Planning and Projects. Reporting to the Executive Facilities Officer for Facilities and Real Estate, the Executive Director / Chief Project Officer (ED/CPO) is accountable for a regional portfolio of planning, projects and real estate priorities.  Working with the Vancouver Community of Care Leadership, the ED/CPO would co-develop the capital strategic plan and lead the development of site specific master plans for a regional portfolio of real estate, as well as lead and implement large-scale capital projects for the Community of Care at VCH (a portfolio in excess of $500M of Capital Projects).

The Individual

The successful candidate will possess 10-15 years of experience as a Chief Project Officer (or equivalent) responsible for managing large, complex capital projects and recent related experience in progressively more senior leadership roles.  While not required, preference would be given to those candidates with experience in a large, multi-site health care environment.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to delivering exceptional care and building a great place to work. VCH values and accommodates unique differences to ensure that their staff and medical staff – both current and prospective – have the opportunity and are supported to thrive. To build a strong and representative workforce, they seek candidates who will contribute to a caring and inclusive culture and encourage applications from members of all communities, including Indigenous Peoples, people of colour, people of all genders and sexual orientations, and people with different abilities.

VCH is proud to be recognized as a Best Place to Work in Canada in 2021 by Glassdoor and Forbes.
