Kensington Health is a not-for-profit, community-based model of specialized healthcare services that creates consistently better health outcomes by tirelessly pursuing the best ways to respond to unmet health needs within the communities they serve. Kensington Health is a proud teaching facility and academic centre of excellence, educating hundreds of learners each year. They have partnered with the University of Toronto, Toronto Metropolitan University and Humber College, along with nine other universities and colleges, to provide educational experiences in a variety of professions, including nursing, medicine, personal care, social work, kinesiology, therapeutic recreation, nutrition, information technology and administration.

Kensington Health’s operating budget is $60M with 860 staff. The Kensington Health campus is located at 25 Brunswick Ave, located in the heart of Kensington Market. On the site formerly known as The Doctors Hospital, Kensington Health has been deeply rooted in the Kensington community for more than half a century, pioneering ambulatory, residential and community care in Toronto.

Director, Clinical Services

The Director, Clinical Services role is within the Community, Hospice and Long-Term Care division overseeing The Gardens and campus supervision after hours. The Gardens is a 350-person long-term care home located in the heart of the Kensington community in downtown Toronto. The Gardens at Kensington Health supports individuals who require long-term care by providing comprehensive and holistic interdisciplinary care.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Community, Hospice and Long-Term Care, the Director will play a pivotal leadership role in advancing the strategic priorities of the organization while also achieving operational excellence in the division.

As a key member of the strategic and operational leadership team, the Director, Clinical Services, will lead a team of Associate Directors of Care; Managers, After-Hours Operations; and other support service team members to deliver on daily care and services for the people who live in the LTC home as well as those who provide after-hours supervision of the 24/7 Kensington services on campus.

The successful candidate will be accountable to advance quality of care, safety, and the experience of the people we serve. The role is pivotal to ensuring operational excellence by stewarding human, financial and material resources. This role will be guided by the legislation and regulations governing LTC and healthcare in Ontario, the organization's policies and procedures, and best practices for nursing and personal care.

    Qualifications:

    A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required, and a Master’s degree in a health-related field is preferred as well as a minimum of 7 years of leadership in healthcare operation, preferably long-term care. You must also be an active member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario is preferred.

    As the ideal candidate, you have in-depth experience related to clinical assessment, planning, and interventions related to the care of people with complex needs, particularly those living in a long-term care setting, as well as knowledge of infection prevention and control principles and practices. You have demonstrated leadership in implementing initiatives related to safety and quality improvement and have a proven track record of success in implementing change initiatives, projects, and partnerships. You have the ability to lead complex change in a dynamic environment, and proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
