KidsAbility Centre for Child Development (“KidsAbility”) supports over 17000 children and youth to reach their communication, social, physical and behavioural goals each year. This is an exciting time for KidsAbility – the Board recently announced the appointment of Jennifer Foster as the organization`s new Chief Executive Officer, effective January 3, 2024. To help facilitate her vision for the organization, Jennifer is actively recruiting a Director, Communications and Vice President, Finance to round out her incredible leadership team. Additionally, KidsAbility will be embarking on the creation of the organizations next strategic plan, with a focus on research and innovation.
The Director, Communications is an inspiring and mission-driven leader who provides strategic, operational, and thought leadership to support KidsAbility’s Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic priorities so clients and families reach their full potential.
Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Communications (“Director”) works across the organization (including with staff, management, the Senior Leadership team, the Board of Directors, and its committees, the KidsAbility Foundation, and the KidsAbility School Authority) to ensure that all internal and external communications strategies and tactics stay aligned with and support the achievement of KidsAbility’s strategic plan. The Director is responsible for stakeholder engagement strategies; supporting the development and communication of strategic and operational planning cycles; management of the communications team; internal, external and network communications and messaging; and raising KidsAbility’s profile with key stakeholder groups. The Director will have a focus on relationship building, both internally and externally.
The Director will work collaboratively to identify emerging trends, practices, and issues and working with colleagues and stakeholders in formulating innovative, authentic, and appropriate messaging and communications. The Director will provide expert and strategic advice as part of the senior leadership team in all aspects of accountability and decision making.
The Director, Communications will be based in the KidsAbility head office located in Waterloo with travel to various KidsAbility sites in Kitchener, Cambridge, Guelph, Fergus and Palmerston. KidsAbility would like to have leadership presence at all sites, therefore the Director will have the flexibility to work between the various sites.
