Director, Total Rewards
Reporting directly to the Commissioner, Human Resources & Citizen Service, the Director, Total Rewards will direct the development of the Region’s unique employer brand and employee value proposition, including implementation and administration of competitive compensation, benefits, and other total rewards strategies and programs that drive growth, attract/retain talent, optimize the workforce, and improve productivity. They will evaluate effectiveness of existing compensation and benefit programs, policies, and guidelines to ensure they are market competitive, cost effective, aligned with corporate goals, and comply with policies, legislation, and other government and regulatory requirements. The Director will also oversee administration of retirement and pension services; and the administration of HRIS, workforce planning, and related services.
The Director will be part of a passionate, dynamic and growing team in the Human Resources & Citizen Services department. Together they are focused on the links between engaged and supported employees and the provision of excellent service.
The Director, Total Rewards will supervise the Manager of Compensation; Manager of Pension & Benefits; and Manager of HRIS & Workforce Planning & Services.
The ideal candidate will bring progressively responsible management experience in a multi-union public sector human resources environment, coupled with knowledge of total rewards, wage, and salary administration, including market comparisons, job evaluation, benefits, other compensation issues, employment and pay equity legislation, workforce planning, and HRIS administration and reporting. As a leader, the Director will bring demonstrated successes leading, coaching and motivating teams; ability to work cross functionally within complex organizations; excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills.
