Director, Wellbeing & Occupational Health & Safety

Reporting directly to the Commissioner, Human Resources & Citizen Service, the Director, Wellbeing & Occupational Health & Safety will direct the strategic planning, development, management, and continuous improvement of employee wellbeing, occupational health and safety, fleet safety, early and safe return to work programs, and WSIB claims management. Ensures corporate education and compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures, and oversees related training programs.

The Director will be part of a passionate, dynamic and growing team in the Human Resources & Citizen Services department. Together they are focused on the links between engaged and supported employees and the provision of excellent service.

The Director, Wellbeing & Occupational Health & Safety will supervise the Manager of Occupational Health & Safety, Manager of Early & Safe Return to Work, and Manager of Safe & Wellbeing Programs & Services.

The Individual

The ideal candidate will bring progressively responsible management experience in a multi-union public sector human resources environment, coupled with knowledge of Knowledge of occupational health and safety, fleet safety, WSIB, return to work, disability management, wellness, interpretation and application of legislation, and training programs and development. As a leader, the Director will bring demonstrated successes leading, coaching and motivating teams; ability to work cross functionally within complex organizations; excellent interpersonal skills and superior oral and written communication skills.
