The Scarborough Academic Family Health Team (SAFHT) is an integrated group of health care providers that work together as part of a family health team. The team currently includes: 22 family physicians, nurse practitioners, a clinical pharmacist, registered nurses, registered dietitians, a case manager, clinical social workers, clinical chiropodists, and several administrative staff. SAFHT serves approximately 38,513 patients across 9 locations.

SAFHT has been incorporated as a non-profit corporation since 2006 when it began operations as a Family Health Team. Their affiliated physicians operate independently and had been serving the communities for many years prior to the Family Health Team’s creation.

Executive Director

The Scarborough Academic Family Health Team is seeking an Executive Director to effectively lead manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. The Executive Director will report to and work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to realize the mission, vision and goals set by each Board.

The Executive Director is responsible for the implementation of Board policy and direction; the overall day-to-day operations; ensuring that the respective organization’s fiscal, operations, funding, marketing, human resources, technology, and programmatic strategies are effectively implemented; development and accountability of staff, volunteers, committees, programs, and services in accordance with the requirements of funders, government legislation and regulation.

The Executive Director is an experienced health care leader, with at least 10 years of leadership experience in either hospital or primary care environments, and holds a Master’s of Health Administration (preferred, yet not essential when coupled with background).

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in strategic planning, financial and human resources, organizational development, coaching, information technology, risk / legal within the health sector. They will be a visible community leader who advocates for support of both organizations, with government funders and the broader community.
