Led by a passionate and committed Board, an outstanding Leadership Team, 750+ employees, professional staff complement of 200+ and 100+ volunteers, the organization has launched an ambitious 7-year strategic plan, designed to meet the health care needs of a rapidly growing population. GBGH is guided by the strategic pillars of Continual Excellence, Trust and Belonging, Dedicated Team and Sustainable Growth.

GBGH is extremely fortunate to have the unwavering support of its community and a committed partnership with its Foundation (GBGHF), to ensure that the organization is empowered to deliver excellent health care to the communities it serves. The Foundation works closely with the team at GBGH to identify the areas where support is most needed. By investing in fundraising priorities that address Wellness, Education, Impact and Equipment, the GBGHF is dedicated to enabling the hospital to deliver on its promise to the community and its potential.

Here is your opportunity to take part in the success of these two critical community partners. The GBGH and GBGHF recognize that in the upcoming year, through regular Board attrition, there is the need to fill between 4 and 6 Board Director roles across both organizations. Both are skills-based boards, and these roles are volunteer and provide an excellent opportunity for community members to contribute and shape the future of healthcare delivery in North Simcoe while playing an important governance oversight role. To be eligible to join the Board of either the Hospital or the Foundation, candidates must have primary or secondary residence or operate a business in the primary service of the hospital, including Towns of Midland & Penetanguishene, Townships of Georgian Bay, Tiny & Tay or Christian Island).

For both Boards, we are seeking to attract experienced candidates who bring relevant board governance experience in medium to large public sector organizations, dealing with complex structures and issues.

A recent evaluation of the skills matrix of the Hospital Board has identified the following areas of priority in recruiting new members:

  • Government Relations/Public Policy
  • Capital Redevelopment
  • Clinical Care Delivery

In the case of the Foundation the Board has identified the following areas of priority in recruiting new members:

  • Fundraising/Philanthropy experience
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
  • Large Capital Campaigns

GBGH and GBGHF also has a strong desire to have our Board closely reflect the diverse populations served by the hospital.
