Director, Human Resources
Key Responsibilities
- With the MCI Onehealth Leadership Team, establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement.
- Directs and oversees the management of the Human Resources function, ensuring that services to all MCI Onehealth organizations are effective, cohesive, consistent with the needs and objectives of the various organizations, as well as MCI Onehealth as a whole.
- Directs MCI Onehealth’s Talent Acquisition; Payroll & Benefits; and Business Partnering divisions, ensuring that all Federal and Provincial laws, regulations, and standards are met.
- Directs the development of training and organizational development programs.
- Directs the administration of insurance and other benefits programs; evaluates and develops recommendations for improvements to employer-sponsored benefit programs.
- Provides strategic direction and oversight to the organizations’ employee total rewards programs including, salary & benefits administration, pay for performance, STIP, LTIP and service awards; ensures regulatory compliance and competitive salary levels necessary to attract and retain qualified staff.
- Leads development and implementation of employee engagement strategies and programs, including organization roll-out, interpretation of results, and action planning to support organization goals and objectives of improved employee engagement.
- Responsible for workforce and organization planning, including overseeing talent acquisition, job evaluation, performance evaluation, succession planning and managing the integration of any acquisitions.
- Evaluates Human Resources departmental procedures to streamline and/or automate processes, improve customer service, reduce paper-flow, and improve human resources data management; plans and implements changes as required.
- Ensures open communications with MCI Onehealth subsidiary’s leaders.
- Develops and manages annual budgets for Human Resources and performs periodic cost and productivity analyses, including preparation for annual audits with supporting procedural documentation.
- Recommends and participates in the development of Human Resources policies and procedures; may serve on MCI Onehealth planning and policy-making committees.
The Candidate
The preferred candidate will posses a Bachelor’s Degree (Business and/or Human Resources preferred) with at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, ideally in health care or start up. They will also have:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced start-up environment
- Experience working with acquisitions and integrating different companies or cultures into one company
- 7+ years’ experience coaching & developing a team
- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Knowledge of contemporary principles of human resource management
- Ability to analyze and assess training and development needs
- In depth knowledge of payroll and HRIS systems
- Knowledge of federal and provincial employment laws and regulations and experience managing payroll in different provinces
- 3 to 5 years of Total Rewards experience including benefit renewals, STIP, LTIP
