St. Joseph’s Health Centre (SJHC) has been serving the health care needs of the Sudbury community for over 65 years.  SJHC is the corporate office to three individually incorporated health care delivery facilities in the City of Greater Sudbury; St. Joseph’s Villa, St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, and Villa St. Gabriel Villa.  All together SJHC oversees the operation of two 128 bed long term care facilities and a 64 bed rehabilitative care centre with a 64 bed offsite unit, and is supported by over 1000 staff with a budget of $40M. As a Catholic health care organization, sponsored by the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario (CHSO), SJHC emphasizes the qualities of compassion, human dignity, and social responsibility in caring for the whole person.

President & Chief Executive Officer

The Board of St. Joseph’s Health Centre of Sudbury is seeking a strategic, visionary, and compassionate leader as the new President and Chief Executive Officer / Administrator for these organizations.

The President/CEO of St. Joseph’s Health Centre of Sudbury provides strategic, operational and people leadership to a complex multisite Catholic healthcare organization. The President/CEO, with the support of a passionate and highly engaged Senior Management Team and multidisciplinary staff, carries out the organization’s objectives in the provision of healthcare and the improvement of the community health status. Providing continued leadership and support as these organizations respond to the global pandemic, the President/CEO will champion the execution of the organization’s Strategic Plan to focus on customer service, leading in quality care and safety, inspiring and valuing people, optimizing resources, and partnering with purpose. The President/CEO will demonstrate the highest level of leadership effectiveness consistent with the “LEADS in a Caring Environment” competencies, while advancing the mission, vision and values of the organization.

The Individual

The new President/CEO will have significant experience ideally within the long-term care, hospital, rehabilitation, not-for-profit or the broader health care sector in progressive leadership roles. They should be a strategic leader with demonstrated experience leading, coaching and mentoring diverse teams in a complex system, while building and maintaining relationships with key partners both internally and externally. Oversight of finance and administration, capital projects / construction and facilities management and LEAN (process redesign) are key elements of the role. The successful candidate shall have experience in these areas as well as a demonstrated commitment to serving vulnerable and marginalized populations; and embody and subscribe to the values of Care, Compassion, and Commitment. Partnering with Indigenous Peoples and First Nation communities are also important aspects of this role. A compelling communicator, the CEO has earned their leadership credentials by developing lasting professional relationships, demonstrating sound business judgment, and creating operational excellence by investing in and managing people with the highest of integrity and by inspiring exceptional performance. Bilingualism is a definite asset.

The successful candidate will also hold a post-secondary degree in business, health care administration, public administration or related field, with a preference for Masters-level education. A formal clinical background is a definite asset.
