Chief Operating Officer, Health Sciences Centre
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Shared Health Manitoba, the Chief Operating Officer, Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and overall operational management to a service-focused health services team of over 8,000 staff with an annual operating budget of over $500 million providing routine to complex, inpatient and outpatient, adult and pediatric health services from the Winnipeg-based campus to patient and clients from across Manitoba, Nunavut and north-western Ontario. HSC is Manitoba’s largest health facility, and is Manitoba’s provincial tertiary centre for trauma, transplants, burns, neurosciences, complex cancer care and pediatric care with Manitoba’s first hospital-based heliport and the largest and busiest emergency departments in the province with over 115,000 visits per year.
As part of the senior executive team of Shared Health, this chief operating officer collaborates to establish, implement and measure the achievement of Shared Health’s strategic and operating goals and objectives the mandate assigned by the provincial government.
Responsible for the safety and security of all the resources within HSC Winnipeg, this executive leader must maintain effective business relationships at the executive level, must be prepared to contribute and be visible in responses to media issues related to the services provided by provincial diagnostic services, must model the behavioural standards of the organization as the senior leader within the service area to whom all staff are accountable, and must sustainably manage the funds provided for all operating and capital investments in HSC Winnipeg.
The candidate we seek will possess 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience delivering a broad spectrum of health and clinical services in a large, publicly funded health services delivery organization, specializing in the full spectrum of clinical operations management in complex operating environments with significant organizational change.
