The Bloorview Research Institute is recognized in Canada, and around the world, for its unique client population and leadership in the field of childhood disability. The Research Institute brings together a multi-disciplinary team of scientists who work collaboratively with clinical staff, clients, and families to generate clinically linked and applied pediatric rehabilitation research. With the recently closed Grow Holland Bloorview Research $32 million campaign and an 11,000 SF addition to the Bloorview Research Institute set to open in fall 2022, the Bloorview Research Institute is posed to make even greater impact locally, nationally and globally.
Vice President, Research & Director, Bloorview Research Institute
Reporting to the President & CEO, and as a member of the hospital’s Senior Management Team, the Vice President, Research & Director, Bloorview Research Institute (BRI) is responsible for setting the research direction and strategy of the hospital while providing overall leadership for the operations of the BRI. The role brings the value of research to other parts of the organization and identifies opportunities for collaboration across the institution, the Toronto Academic Science Network, and through national and global partnerships. Current priority research themes include:
- Understanding Development Diversity
- Understanding the Human Experience of Disability and Caring for Disability
The new VP Research and Director, BRI will be a highly accomplished researcher with a stellar reputation and significant experience in relevant fields of research, in a university or an academic health science centre. They will possess progressive management experience in a large, complex research enterprise, with the ability to create and execute strategy and an understanding of research ethics and conduct. They will have the ability to communicate a clear and aspirational vision to inspire researchers, the entire hospital, clients and families and donors. The individual must possess a clear commitment to research family engagement, a vision for transformational change that research can make and a passion for impacting the lives of children and families. The VP Research and Director, BRI will have a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility and anti-racism and a passion for advancing these themes at Holland Bloorview and across the Toronto Academic Health Science Network (TAHSN).
