As a member of the Senior Management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the VP Quality, Best Practice, Education and Chief Nursing Executive (VP/CNE) leads the organization in ensuring a work environment which supports clinical excellence, innovation, on-going learning and continuous quality improvement. This position is responsible for working closely with the VP, Client Services and VP, Integrated Care, Partnerships and Private Services to ensure the adoption of evidence/consensus-based best practices in care and service delivery, and the development of education/professional development programs to support quality care and service excellence for all VHA’s regulated and unregulated practitioners. The VP/CNE is the lead for VHA’s infection prevention and control program and ongoing designation as a RNAO Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO).
This role has oversight of VHA’s Client Engagement Strategy, including Client and Carer Advisory Committee, Client and Family Voice Specialist and a large group of committed Client and Family Partners, and is accountable for ensuring a culture of co-design with clients, carers and families. The VP/CNE leads VHA’s corporate quality strategy and is the senior executive lead for the Quality Improvement and Risk Management Committee of the Board.
The VP/CNE provides operational leadership for Nurse Practitioner primary care services and Advanced Practice nursing positions embedded within partner organizations and is the lead for nursing (both internally and externally), and directly responsible for implementation of government-supported nursing programs. This role holds accountability for compliance with regulatory requirements of clinical practitioners (rehab and nursing) and the practice standards of all point-of-care support staff.
The VP/CNE will work closely with the VP, Research and Innovation to support VHA’s Research and Innovation activities. The role is accountable to ensure strategic and operational relationships are developed and fostered with health organizations, networks, associations, professional bodies, government, education and research institutions, and industry / business partners.
