Placement: St. Joseph’s at Fleming appoints Nelson Ribeiro as Chief Executive Officer, and 8 new Board Members
Mirams Becker is thrilled to share that St. Joseph’s at Fleming has selected Nelson Ribeiro as their new Chief Executive Officer, effective September 2nd, 2025, and elected eight (8) new Board Members effective immediately.
Nelson Ribeiro is a seasoned and dedicated leader in the long-term care and seniors’ services sector, bringing over 25 years of progressively responsible experience in public and private care environments. His professional journey reflects a lifelong commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors through innovation, compassion, and strong leadership.
Nelson was most recently the Director, Long-Term Care Homes for the City of Toronto. In this executive role, he provided strategic leadership to ten long-term care homes, managed relationships with unions, elected officials, and health system partners, and guided the division through the COVID-19 pandemic. His focus on continuous improvement, quality care, and strong resident and family engagement shaped the City’s long-term care landscape during a period of transformation and growth.
Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology and Sociology from McMaster University, a Recreation and Leisure Services Diploma from Mohawk College, and a Certificate in Long-Term Care Administration from Ryerson University. Nelson is fluent in Portuguese and certified in Health & Safety, Alzheimer’s Education, and Palliative Care.
The newly appointed board members include Steven Boyle, Terry Caputo, Gerald Davy, Francis Garwe, Louis O’Brien, Jane Parr, Roger Ramkissoon, Father Jozef Vano (Diocese Designate), each bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in the healthcare and long-term care sector. Their insight and leadership will be invaluable as SJF continues to strengthen their organization.
