Placement: Proximity Institute appoints Susan Brown as Chief Executive Officer
Mirams Becker is thrilled to share that Susan Brown has been selected as Proximity Institute’s new Chief Executive Officer, beginning February 23rd.
Proximity Institute is dedicated to leadership development at the most senior levels in Ontario hospitals. As an independent charitable organization, generously endowed by the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA), they are committed to addressing one of the most compelling challenges facing the health care system: future ready leadership.
Working with Proximity staff, the Board Chair, and the Board, the Susan will provide strategic and organizational leadership to ensure that Proximity develops, aligns, and then executes its strategic direction and priorities. As the new CEO, Susan will continue to add value to Ontario’s Health System by deploying practical, innovative and real-time leadership development solutions (e.g., community building, research and publications, and major projects). She will continue to build the organization’s profile and relevance within the hospital sector, connecting regularly with hospital CEOs and board chairs, and senior leaders from the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Ontario Hospital Association.
Susan is a seasoned healthcare executive with extensive experience in the Ontario hospital sector. Her background includes senior leadership roles at Sinai Health, University Health Network, and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital in the areas of strategy, transformation, and people and culture, with a strong record of supporting CEOs and executive teams. She has built deep and trusted relationships across the sector, and brings a collaborative, future-focused approach to leadership. Susan is widely recognized for her ability to translate vision into leadership action, build strong partnerships, and lead change with clarity, accountability, and care.
Susan received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, and her Master’s Degree from Guelph University.
