Board Governors & Community Members
NYG is seeking experienced governors with strong knowledge of the healthcare system to complement our team of skilled professionals and support the important board oversight of quality care and people centred care experience. Ideal candidates will bring executive-level experience in health administration, health system and policy knowledge, and clinical expertise. This health system perspective, coupled with a strong clinical and quality mindset, will be particularly valuable to the Board of Governors and its Quality Committee.
As part of their long-term governance planning, NYG is thinking strategically about future Board leadership and is seeking candidates with the potential and interest to serve in future Committee Chair and/or Board Chair roles.
To strengthen our skills-based Board, residency within the NYG catchment area is not required. In addition, NYG welcomes candidates with experience leading or governing complex organizations. We are committed to enhancing gender parity and representation of other equity-deserving groups to reflect our community.
Commitment
Governors will be elected for a term of two years and may serve for a maximum of ten years. Governors will be asked to sit on at least one of the five Committees of the Board (Governance, Audit and Finance, Quality, Capital Development Advisory, or Research and Innovation).
The Board meets (6) times a year in September, November, January, March, May and June. Committees meet approximately four (4) to five (5) times a year, in advance of Board Meetings. Attendance is ideally in person, with the ability to connect via video conference, where needed.
