Placement: Chatham-Kent Health Alliance names Adam Topp as next President and CEO
Chatham, ON (July 19, 2024) – Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) is pleased to share that Adam Topp has been named as the organization’s next President and CEO, effective October 1, 2024. Adam is a proven strategic healthcare leader who brings over 30 years of experience in the sector.
“I am delighted to share that Adam will assume the role of President and CEO at CKHA. He brings significant experience and knowledge to the organization, and a well-established track record of strategic leadership, transparency and collaboration, with an authentic focus on patients and families,” said Deb Crawford, Board Chair, CKHA. “I want to thank everyone in the community who played a part in our recruitment process. Our campaign that asked the public ‘What are you looking for in our next CEO at CKHA?’ helped guide our search along with our executive search firm Mirams Becker Inc. to find the successful candidate to fulfill this position.”
Adam’s vast expertise and experience consists of a combination of leadership in hospital clinical and financial operations, as well as consulting, government and entrepreneurship. He has successfully facilitated the resolution of complex strategic challenges including provincial health system transformation, health system ownership transfers and amalgamations, post-transformation change management, governance and priority setting, and facilities planning and redevelopment.
Adam, who grew up in rural Ontario, is excited to move back to the province from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has four grown children, one of whom will also be relocating to Ontario to attend post-secondary education in the fall.
“I very much look forward to joining Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and settling in the community of Chatham-Kent,” said Adam Topp, incoming President and CEO, CKHA. “I was especially drawn to CKHA’s Vision of Together, Growing a Healthier Community. The implied reference to a rural community resonates with me as a one-time farmer. Also, the focus on partnerships and relationships in CKHA’s Vision fits well with the key aspects of community hospital progress that I’ve always supported in my work with hospitals and healthcare organizations. I am passionate about the potential for CKHA to continue to grow a healthier community.”
Adam’s previous roles include President and CEO of Shared Health Manitoba; Director, Health Transformation for the Government of Manitoba’s Priorities and Planning Committee Secretariat; Senior Associate Consultant, Hay Group Health Care Consulting; Chief Operating Officer for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and various leadership roles at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre including Vice President, Clinical Operations, Vice President, Corporate Performance and Chief Financial Officer. Additionally, he is the Founding Partner and CEO of Benchmark Intelligence Group Inc. (BIG Healthcare) – a management consulting service exclusively tailored for the healthcare industry.
CKHA looks forward to welcoming Adam to the hospital and the community in the coming months. During this transitional period, Aaron Ryan will continue serving as Interim President and CEO, offering stable leadership to the organization until September 30, 2024.
