Placement: Ontario College of Pharmacists appoints Jay O’Neill as Registrar & Chief Executive Officer
Mirams Becker is thrilled to share that Jay O’Neill has been selected as Ontario College of Pharmacists’ new Registrar & Chief Executive Officer, beginning November 17th.
The Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) is the registering and regulating body for the profession of Pharmacy in Ontario. The College’s mandate is to serve and protect the public interest and hold Ontario’s registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians accountable to the established legislation, standards of practice, Code of Ethics and policies and guidelines relevant to pharmacy practice. The College also regulates and accredits community and hospital pharmacies, holding them accountable to operational standards and relevant policies and legislation; pharmacies must be accredited by the College in order to operate in Ontario.
As the Registrar and CEO, Jay will be in charge of overseeing the regulatory requirements of the pharmacy profession, ensuring safe, professional and ethical standards. He will establish goals and objectives, set priorities, allocate resources, direct the planning and organization of work, and drive a supportive and high-performing corporate culture, while evaluating the operational effectiveness of this complex organization.
With extensive experience in public-interest regulation with a focus on care delivery, governance and organizational modernization, Jay brings a thoughtful and proven approach to strategic leadership, operational excellence, and collaborative engagement that are critical for OCP during a period of significant health system transformation. He is a graduate of the MBA program at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto and holds the governance designation of Chartered Director (C.Dir) from The Director’s College at the DeGroote School of Business, McMaster University.
