Placement: Sinai Health appoints Dr. Lynn Mikula as new President & Chief Executive Officer

Mirams Becker is thrilled to share that Dr. Lynn Mikula has been selected as Sinai Health’s new President & Chief Executive Officer.

Sinai Health is a leading academic health science centre and a recognized leader in integrated care across the healthcare continuum, from hospital to rehabilitative care to community-based care. Sinai Health delivers compassionate, world-class care while advancing scientific discovery, education, and system innovation. The organization is operating in a rapidly evolving environment marked by increasing complexity, system-wide workforce pressures, and intensified competition for talent and funding.

As the new President & CEO, Dr. Mikula will shape Sinai Health’s future as a premier academic health science system, strengthening integration of clinical care, research, and education across Mount Sinai Hospital, Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute (LTRI), and Circle of Care. She will embed research excellence and innovation into the organization’s core strategy, driving operational and clinical performance and amplifying Sinai Health’s reputation nationally and internationally. Reporting to the Board of Directors, Dr. Mikula will deliver on an ambitious strategic program, foster influential partnerships, and lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve best-in-class patient experience, digital transformation, and major capital projects. She will unite mission and performance, creating the conditions for Sinai Health to set the standard for integrated, compassionate, and research-driven care.

Dr. Mikula is currently the President and CEO of Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC). She began her career there in 2011 as a staff surgeon in the department of general surgery and went on to hold progressively senior leadership positions including Chief, Department of Surgery and Chief of Staff, Chief Medical Executive, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer.

During her time as President and CEO at PRHC, Dr. Mikula led the development of a new five year strategy that set a clear direction for the organization’s future. Central to this strategy were several key pillars, including strengthening academic partnerships, supporting the workforce, and accelerating digital transformation.

A graduate of McGill University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Mikula has a longstanding connection to Sinai Health. During her residency at the University of Toronto, she completed rotations at Mount Sinai Hospital and later earned a Master of Science degree at the Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute. These experiences gave her a deep appreciation for Sinai’s values and its role as a leading academic health sciences centre.

Dr. Mikula is deeply committed to quality, innovation, and engagement within the complex environment of health care. A well-respected physician leader, Dr. Mikula has deep governance and leadership experience. She is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for Enhance Ontario, the governing body for a seven-hospital shared Epic instance. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Health Insurance Reciprocal of Canada and was a member of the Cancer Quality Council of Ontario, she also sits at number of regional, provincial and national tables.  Dr. Mikula obtained a Master of Management from McGill University in 2021.
