KidsAbility Centre for Child Development (“KidsAbility”) supports children and youth to reach their communication, social, physical and behavioural goals. Established in 1957 and serving the growing and diverse communities of Waterloo Region and Wellington County, KidsAbility is a highly respected, complex and evolving not for profit organization providing a broad spectrum of rehabilitation services to children and youth with disabilities and their families.

Vice President of Finance

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Vice President of Finance provides strategic financial and operational leadership in support of KidsAbility’s mission and five-year strategic plan. The Vice President leads financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and modelling, cash flow management, risk management and compliance, providing the CEO, Senior Leadership Team and Board Finance and Audit Committee with meaningful financial insights to support effective decision making.

The role has overall responsibility for the Finance and Facilities functions, comprising more than 20 employees, with direct reports including the Controller, Facilities Manager and Health and Safety Coordinator. The Vice President will ensure strong financial systems, controls and reporting practices while identifying opportunities to modernize and improve processes through automation and technology. They will also provide leadership for financial and physical assets, investment strategy, purchasing and vendor relationships, enterprise risk management and capital planning.

The Vice President will lead and develop a strong, collaborative and accountable Finance and Facilities teams and work across the organization to ensure these functions effectively support KidsAbility’s broader priorities. They will also represent KidsAbility with community and provincial partners and bring an understanding of emerging issues affecting the children’s treatment and broader public sectors.

The successful candidate will be an accomplished finance executive with at least 10 years of progressive experience leading finance and accounting functions within a complex organization. A CPA or equivalent qualification in accounting, business or finance is required, along with strong expertise in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, modelling, audit, compliance and risk management. Experience improving financial reporting through automation and process improvement is important, and experience implementing a finance information system is an asset.

A strategic and collaborative leader, the successful candidate will bring excellent judgement, strong analytical capability and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to senior leaders and Board members. Experience in complex private or public sector environments is important, while experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

The Vice President of Finance will be based at KidsAbility’s head office in Waterloo, with travel to KidsAbility sites across the region.
