Touchstone Institute is a non-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors and receives financial support from the Government of Ontario. Currently implementing a growth strategy, Touchstone Institute looks to expand its impact in supporting broad health human resource solutions and by strengthening effective practice of health care professionals.

Nearly 40 full-time staff contribute to the success of the organization, including experts in competency design and assessment, as well as health and education program development. Touchstone Institute works closely with physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers who provide subject matter expertise to assess and improve the level of competency across individual practice. Building on its history of working to facilitate entry to training or practice for Internationally Educated Health Professionals, Touchstone Institute seeks to continue the work in this area while expanding to support excellence in competent practice for all who deliver health care.

Senior Director, Program Design and Implementation

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and as part of the Executive Team, the Senior Director, Program Design and Implementation leads the Programs and Services Division of Touchstone. The Senior Director contributes to the generation of revenue via the creation and delivery of new programs and services. This role requires a growth mindset, focused on producing measurable results, that seeks opportunity through engagement of new partners and ongoing support of existing partners. The Senior Director oversees and drives the design, delivery and assessment of the core programs including examples such as learning and orientation programs, simulation services and Practice Ready Ontario. Together with their executive colleagues, they play a critical role in the overall management and strategic direction of the organization, aimed at achieving strong results and sustainable growth.

The ideal candidate will have proven success designing and delivering programs at a federal, provincial or territorial level, demonstrated experience in training, education, and assessment, including program design, testing, implementation, and continuous quality improvement. They will display a strong understanding of creating programs to support the achievement of competency, issues pertaining to health regulators and licensing authorities, as well as opportunities for workplace-based practice and assessments. Their skillset should include end to end program design experience including a focus on outcomes, evaluation, and implementation excellence. A consummate networker, they will have a demonstrated track record of building successful relationships with key partners and stakeholders, government, funders, and academia, including - familiarity with government project funding opportunities and models; strong understanding and knowledge of program management, client and stakeholder groups and issues related to the program area. Critical to their success, they will possess an understanding of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), as well as an understanding of the Health Human Resource planning environment. Experience working with or for government would be an asset.

The successful candidate will have a Graduate level University degree in a related field; a minimum of 10 years’ experience managing government-funded projects; a minimum of 10 years’ experience in team management and leadership.
